“Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech.”
– Proverbs 1:20,21
![]() Yesterday, we talked about how Heavenly treasures are those virtues that benefit us in both our physical world and in the parallel Spiritual world that is invisible, and we discussed the fact that they can never be taken from us, no matter how many times we get sued, how many times we are stabbed in the back, or how much the economy changes. Today, I want to talk about one particular Spiritual treasure that is of enormous worth in helping us live Godly lives: wisdom. Webster’s defines wisdom as the “ability to discern inner qualities and relationships.” In other words, wisdom is looking beyond what’s visible and perceiving matters of the heart; it’s seeing beneath the surface and considering the bigger picture. Proverbs says that wisdom calls out in the streets; in other words, she is looking to be found and she is available to anyone who seeks her. The problem with many of our lives today is that we spend so much time trying to make money that we neglect attaining the wisdom that leads us to it. You see, the how and why should always come before the what, and Godly wisdom is the key to determining our course and direction in both the big things and the smaller ones. Friend, I encourage you to seek wisdom through God’s Word, through reading, through the counsel of mentors and friends, and through discerning the Holy Spirit’s still small voice. As you do, you will store up Heavenly treasure that will never spoil, perish or fade; the type that will make your time on the earth richer and deeper and that will give you a greater anticipation of the life to come! What great news! |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for being the source of all Heavenly treasure. I pray that you would give me ears to hear as wisdom raises her voice in my life, and a heart to respond to her requests.
