Wish for More, Not Less

“But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.”

– Psalms 52:8

Let me encourage you today to wish for more, not less. In order for you to achieve your full potential take this idea to your heart and mind and wish for more in life, not less. I can already hear your reply: “Trust me Pastor Bobby, I’m not wishing for less in life!” Here’s my rebuttal: How many of you said last week that you wished you had less work? How many of you said, “It would be nice if I had less stress and fewer problems. The less debt and bills I have, the better.” I know you wish you had fewer bad days, toxic relationships, and bad meals! The thing is, a good life is full of bad experiences. It is impossible to live an awesome life without having some awful experiences. They go hand in hand.

What we need to do is to wish for more wisdom! God calls us to not wish for less, but to wish for more. I first heard this bit of wisdom from my grandpa, Dr. Schuller: Don’t wish life was easier, wish you were better. Here is another way to put it: Don’t ask for fewer obstacles; ask for more wisdom instead. Maintain your commitment and dedication to pray the prayers, nurture friendships, read the books, listen to the sermons, and commit your life to soaking up what is already available to you.

Friend, most of the time, the difference between where you are in life and where you want to be is wisdom. This extends to both the simple things like being healthy, to the more complex things like living a meaningful life. It is God’s desire to give you wisdom, all you need to do is ask!

Prayer

Father, I pray that you will grant me wisdom in all my life’s situations.

  1. awesome life. I do not need more problems in my life. That is why i have been talking to you online seeking help. To resolve this problem of Satan being in me. Wisdom could be a good thing. I have sought The Lord and his power for help to resolve this. I talk to a doctor and social worker. I pray for help from God to take Satan out of me. It is not happening. I am full of trouble every day. For the past 47 years and before i got help from God 1971. I seek help from ministers and through prayer. Thank you for all of your encouragement. Love your brother in Christ i hope. tom
