“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”
– John 6:63
![]() Today I begin a series about the importance of words, both the words you hear and the words you speak. I’ve preached on this subject before, but repetition is important in learning and this subject has multiple angles. There are words all around us, all the time. It is very common to see and hear advertisements, whether you’re riding on the bus or listening to the radio in the car. There are certain words you hear from colleagues and friends, and of course, on TV and social media. There are podcasts, and there is music that speaks to us. From any of these sources very often we forget that these messages are saturating our lives. I want to talk about the first set of words that you need to transform your life, and that is to confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Life may be going very well for you. You’re making money, your marriage is fine, your kids are doing well, or you’re reaching your goals. Even though you’ve received everything you’ve wanted, there is still something missing. Peace with God is what you’re missing. Having peace with God is important, and even more so being in a deep relationship with Him so that we may live in His strength. Most importantly, to allow His Holy Spirit to not only forgive us of our sins, but to assure us of peace even after we die. Friend, I encourage you today to stop riding the fence and to make a decision to commit or recommit your life to God through Jesus; to confess with your mouth that Christ is Lord, to believe that He died on the cross for your sins, that He was raised from the dead, and you will be saved. These words will transform your life! |
Prayer
Father, help me stay committed to you.
