“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”

– Hebrews 13:7

Did you know that you are a leader? Regardless of whether or not leadership is implied in your title, if you are a Christian, you are called to lead. No matter where you are today and how insignificant you think your title is, because you are empowered by the Holy Spirit, you have influence!

As we continue talking about our workplaces and how we handle professional relationships, my challenge to you is this: Don’t worry so much about the perfections or imperfections of your employer, but instead focus on transforming your organization’s culture one relationship at a time. Rather than trying to find a perfect boss or a workplace that’s known for being joyful and productive, work to cultivate the atmosphere you seek in your own sphere of influence. Don’t worry about your title or your perceived authority, simply get to know people, encourage them, and speak life over them. As you do this, watch as things around you begin to change. Never underestimate your ability to lead. Serve others with humility of heart and I assure you, you will make a difference!

Friend, you have been given a great gift — the opportunity to be Jesus to those around you. When you put on a countenance of joy, infuse a sense of peace, and exercise patience with your co-workers, you are modeling the very presence of the One who can change their lives. I encourage you to be as full of Christ’s Spirit when you go to work on Monday as you are in church on Sunday. As you do, you are planting seeds of eternity that may well take root and spring up in their hearts! In a world that is increasingly hostile and competitive, you are a leader with the power to model the living Lord to a culture that is dying by self-absorption! Isn’t that an honor?

Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, for calling me to be a leader. I want to represent you in a powerful and tangible way to those around me.

Reflection

Do you consider yourself a leader? Do you believe you are called to lead in the Kingdom of God? Why or why not?

  1. Hello Pastor Bobby, Family and all there at Hour of Power and Garden Grove Church. I just read your daily comments and as always, I was Blessed. Pastor Bobby, thank you for continuing to follow the call of our Lord on your life. I sure wish I lived out in CA. Garden Grove would for sure be my Church. I am hopeful that I can come out for a visit. God Loves you and so do I! Sincerely, R Ken Howell
