“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
– John 1:12,13
![]() Today, I want to encourage you with this thought — you are God’s child, not His adult! When you were scared in the middle of the night as a kid, what did you do? If you’re like me, you went into mom & dad’s room; you got close to your parents and being in their presence brought you comfort. The same is true for us today when we worry. As the cares of life weigh us down and the circumstances we find ourselves in feel spooky, we need to be with our Heavenly Father. When we acknowledge that He is always with us and that He’ll never leave us nor forsake us, we introduce our soul to the only true antidote for fear. Knowing that being with Jesus is the answer to worry and stress in our lives, the next logical question is what’s the best way to do that? Like a course of antibiotics is needed to ward off infection, so the presence of God is vital to our Spiritual health, but it must be delivered to us somehow. As I have reflected on the best way to tap into His power, I am convinced that there is only one good answer — prayer! Prayer is simply conversation with God and it’s the easiest way to stay connected with Him throughout your day. Now, I don’t want you to feel guilty when you don’t pray, but I want you to think of conversing with Jesus as an opportunity. Your prayers don’t need to be long or formal, nor do they have to follow a special formula; just call out to the Lord and talk to Him as a friend. Even if it’s only one sentence, take the opportunity to acknowledge His presence with you whenever you have the chance. Friend, prayer is a gift — just like a treasure chest worth millions of dollars buried in a field that is for sale for only a hundred — so is the value of being connected to your Heavenly Father. So go, sell what you have and buy that field, because the Kingdom of God is full of riches. Once you have experienced the joy of being His child, you will never want to walk away from Him again! |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for being my Dad. I want to live in your presence today and every day.
Reflection
How do you stay connected to Jesus throughout your day? Does being in His Presence help you to not worry?
