“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.” -Psalm 103:1

I recently had the pleasure of getting to interview and speak with Judah Smith, Lead Pastor of The City Church in Seattle, Washington, and author of How’s Your Soul?, on TBN’s Praise.

I really enjoyed speaking with Judah about how as believers, we often take on the responsibility to help people — to be their Jesus. While we should help people, there’s a lot of pressure in trying to be Jesus, and it can become a burden. Thankfully, like Judah reminded us, “we have a messiah and we aren’t him.” We aren’t Jesus. We can’t be, and we don’t need to be because we already have Jesus; we have God. You don’t have to feel pressure to save people because Jesus already did! When we allow ourselves to rest and trust God — without distractions — we often receive vision and joy. God will use you like he used Jesus, but you don’t have to be Jesus. We are so lucky to have a God that is for us. While we rest in him, he’s working in our lives and the people around us. You already do enough and you are enough. God is pleased with you and he’s proud of you. Let God be God, and let Jesus be Jesus, they have it covered.
