“The Lord said to Jehu, ‘Because you have done well in accomplishing what is right in my eyes and have done to the house of Ahab all I had in mind to do, your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.’ “

– 2 Kings 10:30

I want to share a thought I gleaned from David Goggins, public speaker, author, and retired Navy Seal, that I’ve been concerned about. Imagine that I live this life and do okay. I follow the rules, attend church, and I’m a good, civil man. So, with my average life, I get into Heaven, and God welcomes me. He says, “By the way, before you enter the pearly gates, here’s what you could have done, who you could have been, and what you could have achieved! This is what you could have seen, the things you could have accomplished, and the difference you could have made in history, but you didn’t.” I don’t want to hear that, do you?

How can you make a difference in history? According to the Apostle Paul, we should no longer conform to this world’s patterns. Society follows patterns of averageness, laziness, and lack of faith in God. Other patterns include revenge and pettiness. You don’t have to conform to the ways of this world, but be transformed. How? By the renewing of your mind.

Friend, with a new mind, you can make history and change the world. Your life will change as you transform your thoughts. By embracing the understanding that you are in control of how you think, you can upgrade your thinking. Putting a little effort into training your mind every day can improve your life. Legalistic rules are not what I’m asking for. I’m saying this because I love you and God loves you! It is God’s desire that you experience life-changing transformation and make a difference in the world!

Prayer

Father, I need help upgrading my thinking and renewing my mind.
