You Don’t Need to Perform

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” -Peter 3:3-4

It’s better to vulnerable now than be vulnerable later. Jesus is teaching us that there are all these people and these disciples are being tempted to perform like actors; to put on an amazing show. Jesus says don’t do that; it will poison all the good that God is doing in your life. People love you because you’re offering something better than a fake show so be you just as you are. Don’t pretend, don’t wear a mask, don’t hide because anything you hide and everything you pretend to please this crowd will be shown later. So show it now. Be you just as you are.

PRAYER: Dear God, help me to take off my mask and to lean on you for strength. Instead of pretending with others, help me to promote the truth.

REFLECTION: How can you take off your mask today? Be real with someone. They will appreciate it.
