You Need More People

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

– Ephesians 4:16

I realized that the bigger your dream grows, the more people you need to fulfill it. People can be messy, which can make this challenging. We’re not thinking creatures with feelings. We are emotional creatures, and we think afterward. My experience as a pastor has taught me that. Although many emotions and drama are happening on the surface, I know it’s worth it if you have a big dream.

When I was pastor of a small church, we didn’t need many people. We needed a couple of musicians, a children’s minister, a little help here and there, and a few people to assist with the setup and tearing down of the gathering. Having become a pastor of a more extensive ministry, wow what a list I would have to create if I were to name all of the people, employees, volunteers, and hours of time and effort that go into making a church service. In addition, there are the tasks of packing meals, creating music, producing television content, and helping people who are hurting. It takes a whole army. As the dream grows, so does the team. It’s part of the process of growth, and you understand how valuable people are.

Friend, not only is the bigger your dream, the bigger your team, but the bigger your dream becomes, the bigger the people have to be, as well. And that’s the other thought about developing people: You start to attract into your life big thinkers, people who have specialized knowledge, and, most importantly, people you just have great chemistry with. God makes it possible to orchestrate this important component — the bigger the dream, the bigger the people!

Prayer

Father, assist me in embracing growth and building a winning team.

What are God’s plans for expanding your dream? In what ways is God orchestrating your efforts to build and develop others?
